One of my favorite features with PSP8 is the
seamless tile feature. Making backgrounds is
easy as ever! You may have noticed that I
don't offer many seamless tiled backgrounds here at
the site and the reason is because it's so easy to
do it yourself. This tutorial will take you
through the steps to make a seamless background tile
yourself from ANY image!!
There are no download files needed to follow this
tutorial because we are going to do this with what
you've already got - the
tubes that came with Jasc's
Paint Shop Pro! Find out what a
real tube is and just one way of using your
tubes tool! I hate
to see people referring to images with a transparent
background as a tube - that is not what a
tube file is.
- Choose your Picture Tube Tool
and just pick a tube, any tube will do really.
As for me, I'm going with the tube named Autumn leaves.PspTube. I'm also going
to change the scale setting to 50%.

-
Left-click and hold your mouse down, then
drag your mouse all over your square until it's
completely covered up - no white spaces.
You don't have to cover the whole square if you
don't want. You may want to just 'stamp' a
couple of images onto your square. This is
just the way I'm doing it this time.
-
If you are working
with the PSP v.7 workspace, then go to:
Selections...Seamless Tiling
If you are working with the PSP v.8 (default)
workspace, then go to:
Effects...Image
Effects...Seamless Tiling
-
Now the fun part.
Just play around with the settings! Be
sure to check the preview box so that you can
see what your little square will look like
tiled. Once your happy with your preview,
then just press OK and there you have it!!
Click on my finished tile to see the settings I
used to get this result. It will
That's really all there is to it.
NOTES:
You don't have to start with a blank canvas
either. Say there's this royalty-free
image or image that you've drawn,
but there's only one part of it that you really
want to use. Well, then just take your
rectangle selection tool, select the area that
you like. Then copy and paste it as a new
image and apply the seamless tiling option to
it! Isn't that just the coolest thing?!
