More than a couple of
times, I've seen e-mails reading that silver items (textures,
patterns, even tubes, etc...) are hard to find. Well, I came
up with my own solution for this a couple of years ago (quite by
accident really) and am now going to share this little tip with
you. This can be applied to more than just gold - think
anything that has a 'shiny' or 'metallic' quality to it and it
should work for you. And this can be applied to at least
versions 6+. =)

You can download the files
needed for this tutorial
HERE.
Open the PSP
file.
-
Go to
Colors...Colorize
(or press SHIFT+L on your keyboard)
and
apply these settings...
Hue: 0
Saturation : 0
-
Go to Colors...Adjust...Brightness/Contrast
(or
SHIFT+B on your keyboard)
and apply these settings...
Brightness: 20
Contrast: 30
(If you are working with PSP v.8, then you may
want to save these settings for future use.)
NOTE: Depending on the graphic you are
working with, you can play around with the Brightness/Contrast
settings. Generally, the darker the original graphic, the
higher the brightness/contrast settings you can apply, to give it a
really different, silver look. Here's an example:
Brightness: 100
Contrast: 30

Well, that's pretty much it! Talk about
easy!! Now I don't want to hear anyone complain that finding
silver graphics to work with is hard to come by!
