You'll need one of my templates for this tutorial.
Choose one of the zip files below to download.
Hold your mouse over the filenames to find what you
get.
Start with an easy two-framed file if you’re not
used to doing this. Very easy, but very
tedious (and I hate to make them). A lot of
duplicating and a lot of merging.

:: SIDE NOTE ABOUT THE FONT:: |
|
I’ve had
so many people comment about the name
part. The trick is that if it
don’t fit, MAKE it fit. For
my name, I used the same font – some
script font, I don’t remember which, but
it doesn’t matter. I made my name
in two separate layers. They were
done in the same font just different
sizes.
Layer
one: The ‘M’ in Marianne was about
a size 50pt. Layer two: The ‘arianne’ part of
Marianne something like a 26pt.
Place
the layers where you want, hide all
other layers, merge visible and
continue.
Now
for names that have a ‘y’ or ‘g’ or one
of those letters that hang down, then I
would suggest going with a font that’s
either all caps (or MAKE it all caps)
and maybe not to use a script font, as
that can be hard to read. |
-
Hide
all blinky frames.
-
If
your embellishments end up being on more than
one layer, then you will need to merge visible.
Make sure this layer is arranged at the top of
all your blinky frames. Go to
Layers…Arrange…Bring to Top OR just click and
drag this layer to the top in your layer
palette.
Example: Your name is on one
layer…then you decide to add some hearts or
something on another. You will want to
merge these two layers together.
-
Duplicate your embellishment layer according to
how many frames you have.
Example: If you have 2 blinky
frames, then make sure you have 2 embellishment
layers.
-
Now
hide all layers except one embellishment layer
and one blinky frame. Merge the layer and
the frame together, hide this layer.
Repeat this step until you’re down to your
original number of frames.
Example: If you had 2 frames to
begin with when you opened up the file, then
that’s how many you should have when you’re
done.
-
Save
the file as a PSP file. Open it up in AS.
-
Select All (CTRL+A) frames. Right-click on
your selection and choose Frame Properties.
Change the Display Settings to 10 (play around
with this setting to see what you like) and
there you go.

The one above is the most complicated as it has 13
frames to begin with. You will have to
duplicate your embellishment layer 12 times.
